This study identified the changes in the body stress hormones of 12 male adults after aerobic walking in three environments (mountain trail, beach trail and sports ground) in doing the same exercises. The subjects worked out for 60 minutes at the target heart rate (THR) of 50%. In terms of the statistical processing, the two-way ANOVA was conducted using the SPSS 18.0 statistical program and all significance levels (α) were set to be . 05. The results are as follows:
First, the result of the adrenotropic hormone was significantly different between periods (p<.05), but was not significantly different in the interaction between periods and groups (p>.05).
Second, the result of the changes in the cortisol hormone was significantly different between the periods (p<.05), but was not significantly different in the interaction between the periods and groups(p>.05).
Third, the result of the changes in the serotonin hormone showed a significant difference between the periods and groups (p<.05). It also had a significant difference in the interaction (p<.05).
According to the results, aerobic walking in various environments led to a range of changes in the hormones in the order of mountain trail, beach trail and sports ground when doing the same exercises. It concluded that the exercises in different environments may bring about various changes. Therefore, it is required to conduct more specific researches on aerobic exercises in the specific environments depending on the differences of individuals and gender.
