The aim of this study is to present a plan to vitalize new theoretical lectures & teaching methods which are corresponding with characteristics of colleges of art & design in Korea, based on research and analyse of theory courses in colleges. Especially, through this study, those of the followings are being suggested in details: theoretical lectures & teaching method in art & design using blended learning, learner centered teaching approaches in theoretical lectures. It is expected that this study will be actively utilized for theoretical lectures & teaching method of art & design education, developing educational system and structure of college of art & design and making new subjects as well in related departments. Blended learning will be a new theoretical lectures in college of art and design as a proposal of learner-centered alternative teaching & instruction methods in digital era. In the heart of the current educational reform, there is an e-learning development to pursue the solidification of public education, the transition to the education system adjusted to the knowledge based society, the construction of learning community including school, home and local community, and the realization of educational welfare for excluded class. To realize these objectives, we need to explore to contents of the e-learning more than the simple technological methods. This study attempts this approach. The blended learning in art & design education can realize as follows: First, it should pursue the students can approach abundant education contents anytime, anywhere utilizing internet technological system. Its contents and methods should be explored from each objectives. Utilizing blended learning students can construct an real learning experience, avoiding the superficial approach at on-line learning. Therefore, blended learning in art & design education can contribute to its qualitative development.
