This article is about the Baekje prince Imsung in Yamaguchi region. The Ouchi clan, the ruler of the west part of Japan, brought prince Imsung as a progenitor of the clan. By using Baekje immigrants story, Ouchi Yoshihiro developed the concept of the descendats of Baekje people in 1389. To put forward evidence to this concept, Ouchi clan asked Joseon for help in 1453 and 1486. The story of the founder’s myth had been edited at that time. When the dispute over introduction of Buddhism triggered, the immigration of prince Imsung were drawn to helping spread of the Buddhism in 1453. But later, it was changed to ‘Adoration of prince Syoutoku, the incarnation of Kannon’ in 1486. It was a contextual event of the political situation in the Japan. Prince Imsung’s immigration myth was created in late 14th century to 15th century. By adopting prince Imsung’s myth, the Ouchi clan promoted their nobility in the domestic level, but also used to forming friendship with the Joseon. Considering the control of the Japanese raiders’s invasion, Joseon government was positive with the Ouchi clan’s reaction. As a result, Ouchi clan received Tripitaka for eleven times, and made a request for war supply and land in Baekje region. Prince Imsung’s immigration myth was a substantial element to developing friendly relationship with the Joseon.
