This paper aims to explore and analyze work details of in-house translators in Korea. Analysis objects are eight in-house translators working in Busan City Government. This paper analyzed work reports written by them for one year in 2014, which include what kind of interpretation/translation work they did, how much time was spent, how many pages were translated and others. Moreover, detailed work and tasks that they actually do were analyzed through in-depth interviews. This paper examined the accumulated amount of translation and interpretation respectively to discover the ratio of translation to interpretation in their work. It also classified the work into several categories according to subject in order to figure out what type of work in-house translators usually do. This paper also determined the characteristics of in-house translators and the detailed work that they do. The results gained through this analysis are expected to become a meaningful tool for would-be in-house translators to decide their career path.
