Report Errors
The purpose of this paper was to examine the gender difference among male and female university students regarding career orientation and professionalism. Data were collected from undergraduate students of a university located in a medium size city for 10 days(from May 29 to June 7, 2003), The analyses showed several gender differences. First, the female student had a lower level of self-esteem, compared to the male counter part. Second, a general tendency was found that both male and female students were in undetermination of their future career tracks, but the tendency was comparatively high among female students. This tendency was not unrelated with the lack of relevant information. Third, the female student had a much lower level of self-efficacy than the male student in terms of the ability to determine the future career. These findings suggest that multiple approaches are required to help female students enhance their belief in their career determination.
