Goguryeo Kings are called from their tombs areas in many cases. In relation to this fact, I have researched the rivers’names in Jian area. Gookcheon (國川: national river) and Jungcheon (中川: central river) are regarded as a same river called Tongguha. Yalloo river which was critically accepted as Gookcheon has been found that its name of ‘Yalloo (鴨??)’has been maintained as it is. ‘Gook (國)’relevant tomb area name is roughly categorized into Gookwon (國原: national field) but Gookyang (國壤: national land) corresponds to Gookcheon. They have been, therefore, critically renamed the area that covers both left and right area focused on Gooknae fortress. It was called Gookgang (國岡: national hill) that had hill on the east side of Gookwon. The kings’tombs located on such Gookgang are Imgangchong, Taewangreung and Janggunchong.
Taewangreung of such 3 kings’tombs located on Gookgang has been commonly accepted as the King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb. However, the name of ‘King Hotae (好太王)’cannot be the name to point out to the King Gwanggaeto. ‘King Hotae’copper name bell is also doubted on its excavation process and written form. Furthermore, it has been researched that the heritages excavated around Taewangreung could not be buried in Taewangreung.
The tomb pointed as Gogookwonwangreung is the 992nd tomb located in Woosanha. It could not be easily accepted as a something belonging to the King Gogookwon in terms of its location condition, buried goods and size. Gogookwangwangreung also cannot be easily corresponded to Taewangreung located on Gookgang because of their clear difference of location condition.
Following the King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb Stone, the kings’tombs located on Gookgang are Imgangchong, Taewangreung and Janggunchong. Imgangchong has been critically accepted as the King Dongcheon’s Tomb; Taewangreung as the King Gogookwon’s Tomb; and Janggunchong as the King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb. The King Dongcheon and King Gogookwon were the kings who overcome the biggest national crisis of Goguryeo. The King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb Stone nearby such two kings’tombs is engraved with such brilliant victories splendid enough. Janggunchong seen from the King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb Stone shows its grand look using the King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb Stone written with such remarkable victories as lights.
Imgangchong and Taewangreung are connected each other under the view of political location, also under which the King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb Stone was stood at the point on the straight line between Taewangreung and Janggunchong even if they were far away each other. The 330 of family houses allocated as guardians of graves by the King Gwanggaeto were the number to be allocated to the King Dongcheon’s Tomb, King Gogookwon’s Tomb and King Gwanggaeto’s Tomb respectively by 110.
Recently, China claimed that all the 28 kings’tombs of Goguryeo were located in China. It has been released that such China’s claim was based on the view: Janggunchong = the King Jangsu’s Tomb. This study points out to the nonsense of Sureungseol (壽陵說: a view that a king’s tomb is made before the king dies) regarding the assumption of Janggunchong = the King Jangsu’s Tomb but also found out the intention of China. Finally, this study has revealed a part of the nonsense of the claim that the kings’tombs of Goguryeo had been located in Jian since the capital moved to Pyeongyang.
