Researches on the history of Seongnam were significantly activated in the 1990s due to the enact of local selfadministration. A great deal of research results have been accumulated by individuals as well as Seongnam Culture(성남문화원), Kyungwon University(경원대학교), Seongnam City(성남시), and Land Museum of Korea Land Corporation(한국토지공사토지박물관). Especially we have found relating plenty of new imformation about Namhansansung(남한산성) in the Chosun dynasty. On the other hand, problems and solutions we have founded relating to researches on the history of Seongnam are as follow. First, the participations of professional historians for each field should be widely expanded. Second, research targets should be diversified such as seeking new research subjects or complementing neglected subjects. Third, researches on the man of one's native place of Seongnam should be objectively described. Fourth, Seongnam City and Gwangju(廣州) City should cooperate in researches such as Namhansansung of which research scopes are overlapped to reduce expenses and time and to elevate research qualities. Fifth, advertisement and educations about research results are necessary. Sixth, there should be founded a military museum in Namhansansung to establish the identification of Seongnam.
