Daedonghuichan(大東彙纂) is one of the most famous classified books(類書) compiled it the late Joseon Dynasty. It was compiled by Tae-ryang Nam(南泰良: 1695~1752) in the reign of King Youngjo(英祖). It was distributed in the form of a manuscript under various names. There are tens of different Chinese character manuscript versions under the name of Daedonghuichan(大東彙纂), Huieon(彙言), Dongpohuieon(東圃彙言), Gukjohuieon(國朝彙言), Joyahuieon(朝野彙言)and Dongrok(東錄).
There is a Korean translated version, too. A Korean version with three books and three volumes is currently kept in the Congress library. The title is "Huieon(彙言)." This Korean translated version has different Chinese Characters to the Chinese Character version. It is precious material because it is the translated version of a classified book. It is very rare that classified books are translated. It seems to have been translated in the early 19th century'.

It shows the various aspects of elegant language life that seem to be in the palace or high class society. On the other hand, it is not mum different from the Tales Book of Old in that it contains various anecdotes. It is born to be a 'Story(miscellaneous stories)' as 'imperfect history.' It shows the phenomenon that classified books became a historical romance, which has significant meaning in the history of literature. It seems to have been enjoyed as reading material by high class ladies.
