In Korea, unemployment is mainly due to the economic recession since the foreign exchange crisis in 1997, the structural problems of labor market, and the education system which can not cope with the changes of socioeconomic environments.
The following countermeasures are required to solve the problems of unemployment.
First, the government should establish the employment stabilization infrastructure and network system which help to improve labor market function by serving workers with information, training and consultation for jobs.
Second, considering the practice of stressing job experience, the youth should be given the opportunity of on-the-job training in order to choose their jobs and decide their courses in life.
Third, the education-industry-labor authorities should develope job education & training programs and workers should be educated and trained to he suitable for various types of jobs.
