The purpose of this study is to propose the thematic system based on situation structure, and to testify the theoretical validity of the system in narrative text, essay, newspaper, and address.
This system can solve the problems by analysing thematic structures such as the distinction between spatial roles and logical patients as well as various semantic properties of agent totally described by previous studies. In addition, the system shows the notional differentiation among thematic roles considering semantic features such as CONTROL, CAUSE, TELICITY, and CHANGE. Furthermore, this shows the theoretical necessity of the situation structure according to aktionsart (situation aspect) and the relationship between the structure and thematic roles. The correspondence between the proposals and their application is proved by analysing texts. This study based on situation structure can contribute the significant correlation between verb and argument, corresponding conceptual interpretation language use.
