Now the Korean students attending the middle or high school are using the textbooks on Koeran History which were published in 2002 under the 7th national curriculum. These books contain many historical maps related to Korean history. But most of them have lots of problems which should be corrected in the future textbook supposed to be used from 2011.
The distinctive features of the maps appearing in both the middle school and high school textbook are 'duplication' and 'following'. And each map has problems in the view of contents or form. I tried to point out what is wrong on each map and how it should be revised.
And I suggested some ideas on the way of improvement in the future textbook. They are as follows;
1) Maps should be made not from the scholar's or teacher's angle but from that of tile students.
2) Maps should correspond to the passage in the textbook.
3) Maps should be made on the basis of current studies in the realm.
4) Maps should be made newly and diversely without being restricted by the older ones in the present textbooks.
