Recent discussion has emerged regarding the nature of theological education and curriculum revision. Theological institutions have confronted this recent discussions with different responses ranging from practical suggestions to curricular reconstruction. This paper attempts to explore the historical background of theological education, and to analyze the current curricula of different theological institutions, including Yonsei Divinity School, Harvard Divinity School, Yale Divinity School and Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. By comparing and contrasting educational aims/objectives of different institutions with one suggested by The Association of Theological School (ATS), this paper attempts to demonstrate some important issues of theological education for the 21st century, such as the influence of globalization in organizing curriculum, the correlation of educational aims with curriculum, and inner coherence and balance within curriculum.
