The purpose of this study was to delve into Lee Yuk-sa's poetry from a standpoint of Jung-gyung in terms of composition method. Specifically, it's attempted to look into it in three different perspectives. One was the case that a poem started from Gyung and exchanged with Jung, and an-other was a case that leaned toward Jung and unveiled a sort of ideology. The third case was stressing and representing consciousness. All these classifications were grounded in Jung-gyung, but Ui-gyung also could be applied to them, and the case of emphasizing the social consciousness of poetry could be associated with Confucius' Hung- kwan-gun-won, Unlike existing research methods, this approach is not yet full-fledged nor well-grounded, and it's needed to find out the organizational relationship among the three theories including Jung- gyung, Ui-gyung and Hung-kwangun-won. All the different theories that were neither created in the same era nor put in the same category were applied to Lee Yuk-sa's poems, and deeper, more careful efforts should be put into discussing their logics and validity.
By looking into Lee Yuk-sa, one of modern poets who were based on Chinese classics and Confucianism, it's attempted to analyze Korean modern poems by Yuk-sa, Ji Hun and so on from an angle of Asian poetics in order to get a big picrure of Korean modern poetry. To what extent the ultimate purpose of this study could be attained couldn't be predicted, but the effort by this study was expected to lay the foundation for defining Asian poetry, finding out a common ground between Asian and Western poetics and establishing unique Korean poetry.
