This paper aims to characterize a grammar that can uniformly account for all the felicitous uses of particle -(i)na in Korean The paper argues that the grammatical status of -(i)na is best characterized as a presupposition trigger and the basic notion of 'selectivity' or 'choice' observed in the previous literature is attributable to -(i)na being a presupposition trigger. We observe that -(i)na is licensed to occur only in the contexts where the speaker carries a specific form of presupposition We propose a generalized form of this presupposition that licenses the use of -(i)na at a discourse context. We further observe that -(i)na, as a presupposition trigger, is utilized to create a variety of inferential meanings and express a wide range of speaker attitudes. We argue that this variety of inferential meanings are understood as diverse meanings of conversational implicature that the speaker carries at different discourse contexts.
