The objective of this study is to present a new model of a budget hotel to solve the problems on account of disequilibrium among the grades of tourist hotel. This model needs to meet new accommodation desires for inbound tourists and domestic tourists to Korea's tourism industry. These needs should be attained by the way of developing independently the Korean industry without any type of connections or contracts with existing overseas hotel corporations.
To obtain this goal, this study conducted a document investigation, a case study of budget hotels under development by three Korean firms and existing budget hotel chains overseas and also studied were the precedence researches In domestic and overseas.
From this study, and in particular. from the case study of budget hotels' projects . a new concept of budget hotel was established as follows:
1. A low rate policy of 50 $ US, is highly recommended at the beginning stage of a business.
2. Facilities should be Simple and have safe, easy access and an applied architecture theme. Budget hotels should have space saving oriented concepts developed by the chain.
3. The development of space allocation should be centered on bedrooms with limited breakfast facilities available as a coffee shop and a small business meeting facility.
4. Size of a budget hotel In terms of the number of rooms is In neighbourhood of 50 rooms (average number of rooms of budget hotel from international standards) based on the strategy of economic size and multi branches.
5. The way to develop a budget hotel cham should be to avoid new hotel construction at the beginning stage and apply remodeling or renovation to current nonchained individually operated budget-hotels in order to utilize present accommodation facilities through out the nation.
6. Management of high efficiency and low expenses should be applied to budget hotel operation
