From the 1980s to the early 1990s, there was a large-scale research into plenty of the folk literary materials in China, This Article aims to analyze the newly collected Batgali-typed folk tales in Zhejiang among the materials. The conclusion of my analysis could be summarized like below.
As a consequence of my analyzing 28 Batgali-typed folk tales which ate prevailing in Zhejiang, I found that there ate so many similarities among them It was revealed that the mutual versions of the same variation had much something in common in a motif or the arrangement of the motif at the same time, among other versions of it showed a little difference. 28 Batgali-typed folk tales, which ate prevailing in Zhejiang, could be classified into nine types of variation.
From the analysis, by way of the synchronic comparison, of the plot-structure in which I have had a special interest, I could have deduced the following conclusion. It would be epitomized as six essentials.
First, the mainstay of the plot to form the subject of the types that I have classified, includes two chains of motif.
Second, we found that a series of chains of motif grew out of the mainstay of the plot. A certain level among the implications and mainstays of these chains of motif was located on a level with the mainstay of the plot. These chains of motif were destined to return to the mainstay of the plot.
Third, I designated it as a ‘positive chain of motif’ that a series of chains of motif would propel the plot of a story. These chains of motif, which grew out of the pans to be a key point of the plot of folk tales (or to be the end of it), form a new version.
Fourth, the connections, features and contents of a new chain of motif stemmed from the final condition, which even sometimes decided them, and relation of motif.
Fifth, the structure of the versions of folk tales is transferred into a figure of tree. Sixth, all versions of the original type, without exception, ended up as an elder brother was punished.
To view things in their deep perspective, the point of the plot of Batgali-typed folk tales stands on the ground of a kind of dichotomy. That is to say, there is a dichotomy by which means that an elder brother failed over and over and an younger brother continuously won a victory, though the one repeatedly tried to deprive, in turn, the other was deprived of.
