The most important regional issue in the reunified Korea may be North to South migration. If the massive North to South migration were to occur, not only the North but also the South would be confronted with enormous socio-economic problems. This is the reason why we are concerned about the German case of regional migration after reunification. This study aims to define the determinants of migration in the former GDR(German Democratic Republic) after reunification. The regions where were based on heavy machine industry and agriculture suffered with out-migration. These migrants went into regions in the former FRG(Federal Republic of Germany) and the other regions in the former GDR. In this study, some determinants of migration were defined by a multiple regression analysis as follows; 1) neighborhood facilities as housing, park, theater, 2) technical infrastructure as roads and rail ways, 3) economic factor as unemployment rate. In this study two important implications from German experience are defined as follows; 1) Some special strategies for the regions where were specialized with heavy industry and agriculture in North Korea should be prepared before the Korean reunification. 2) Enhancing living conditions including rebuilding the housing stock and dealing with environmental damage could play more important role for the stabilization of regional migration in North Korea than the other factors. Especially, improving living conditions in the regions specialized with agriculture and heavy industry can play an important role for stabilizing the migration after reunification.
