Report Errors
If a form is approached purely in an abstract way, it is inevitably far removed from the existence, being more and more difficult to reach. Urban form is placed and shaped by the public policy, urban planning law, however obscured by the abstractness. For this reason, it seems obvious to exclude highly superficial terms in the study and practice of urban design. The present urban planning law governs a urban design process that in turn determines the types of city form. The urban design process for shaping future urban form must, therefore, begin with an understanding of the urban planning law and be dealt within the context of existing urban planning law. The objectives of this study try to establish the concept of urban form and review various contents by which urban form is being shaped within the framework of existing urban planning law.
