It is likely that urban planning can be improved by joint efforts of relevant fields.
Among these planning authority should contribute to improving urban planning because some other fields usually act merely as participating role in planning process. In this regard, some issues to be improved by planning authority can be summarized as follows :
First, advocacy planning must be emphasized by means of both vitalizing public hearing and encouraging citizen participation.
Second, the speciality of urban planning must be enhanced through both enlightening the talent of public officials dealing with urban planning and utilizing research institutions.
Third, urban information system must be strengthened, and urban development planning system which is multi-branched by special acts be also reorganized.
In addition, the expansion of urban development funds, the adjustment of land use planning codes, and the introduction of subdivision control planning must be taken into account to improve urban planning.
