This writing argue that the scholar studying the East Asian history should be interest in consumption connected with East Asian history. Then we can find proper education of history for students of the department of history and the department education history. The education of history in University need to meet the demand of the students who want get a job.
I examine three ideas to build up this point. First, I point out its limit with popularization of history of which historians had insisted the past. In other words the history as an instrument of enlightenment is doomed to failure. While the demand of East Asian history in the knowledge-culture field goes on increasing. Secondly, I analyze the disjuntion between the production and the consumption of research papers of scholars studying East Asian history. The papers of East Asian history are continually producing, but most of papers are distributed and consumed by only a few scholars. The East Asian historians in Korea are reluctant to review book which is very important to the paper distribution. The culture of book review is not rooted in Korea, so the distribution and the consumption of the East Asian history papers or books are more depressed. Thirdly, the consumption of East Asian history books in publish market are very limited. The review about East Asian history books in newspapers are also hard to find. But the book review of netizens through Internet which stands for its level, that level cannot be disregarded.
Korean people coming and going to China or Japan is over 4.0 million a year now. They desire knowledge about East Asian history. Therefore we must provide such knowledge harmonized with their demands. They will be consumers and producers, namely prosumers of history. It is necessary that the department of history and the department of history education should make a new curriculum which be able to supply historical knowledge to the producing documentary, drawing cartoon or animation and the local festival.
