In this paper, I surveyed 291 high school students and 11 history teachers, who have been teaching and learning <EAH>, on their perception and change in their thought about <EAH>.
The history teachers’ preference on <EAH> was quite low. The reason is not only the stress about new subject, but also they did not fully agree on the purpose of <EAH>. Teachers suggested that the Ministry of Education should release the anxiety of the fact that <EAH> might be abolished, and try to change the perception by promoting the purpose of the subject’s establishment. Also, they pointed out that the topic approach of <EAH> textbook is difficult for students, so the periodical overview should be added.
The students’ preference on <EAH> was higher than that of teachers’. The students who picked <EAH> in high school are more likely to choose <EAH> in the scholastic ability test. It was 10.5 times more than the other students. Also, the percentage of students who wanted to learn <EAH> before the class was 56%. But after the c lass, the p ercentage of t hose who planned to take <EAH> in the scholastic ability test increased to 65%. This shows that satisfaction of the class can change the choice of subject in the scholastic ability test.
