For a long time ago, Jinhae port was a point of strategic importance and important spot of trade. In 21st century, the new port is being under the construction in Jinhae to develope as a center ports of the North Asia. Because there was a huge increase in trade in this area. Accordingly, Jinhae port's importance with a new ports is getting higher as a advance base of exportation and barter. Therefore, the Jinhae port will contribute to the economic growth of Korea as well as a naval port. Since Cho-Sun dynasty, Jinhae port, which is the first opening port of Korea, has taken charge of the important role as a boundary gate and when we were under the rule of Japanese imperialism, Jinhae port developed as a base of navy and advanced as a naval port rather than port for trade with Japan. Because of a natural advantage of topography.
These days, even if Jinhae port is not activated yet as a trade port, it is centtally located at the seashore which mutually links Masan free trade area, Changwon industrial complex and neighboring industrial area. Therefore Jinhae port is expected to be a center port of north asia and be a hub of developing industry followed the construction of new ports and developing industrial areas.
In Korea, the importance of port is getting higher because not only Korea has high trade dependence in economic structure but also 99.7% of exportation and importation are circulated at port. Especially, the construction of Jinhae new port, which firstly aimed at developing ports itself and around ports, is going to do an leading role of th accumulation of wealth for the country and the region around the ports. Therefore, for the Jinhae port's new development with the construction of new Jinhae ports, various plans should be drawed up.
