Liberation Space may be recorded as a certain 'chaotic' experience that barred the Korean people from empirically capturing aspects of the age. The literati were unable to accomplish a certain independent language for capturing and restoring reality. What was able to directly describe the disorganized reality was not fiction but poetry. However, liberation was the liberation of the people, and the very first literary task for Liberation Space was the erection of national literature, and therefore the poetic ego was in a hurry to reveal the romantic passion of collective emotions. As was seen in the process of Kim Gi-rim and Jung Ji-yong discarding their position as modernists and immediately joining the leftist literary group, their creative work had virtually disappeared, while only the huge interest in political movements of literary groups was further amplified. At a time like this, Oh Jang-hwan discovers lyrical independence and language as a specific individual amidst the collective ideologies. In his poetry, Oh Jang-hwan directly depicts the indignant state of 'crying', in which the relationship between the subject and object is disintegrated by the shock of liberation. He specifically represents the true actual feeling of the lyrical inner world as well as the grotesque violence of liberated reality. It was due to his independent lyricism that Oh Jang-hwan was able to bring in the crisis of reality into the consciousness of poetry. Right after liberation, when literature faced the fundamental limitation of being absorbed by political parties due to political urgency, Oh Jang-hwan contrarily looks straight into objective reality within a historical context, and constructs the actual existence of reality. The lyrical confessions of the inner world, routineness, and the tension between micro-description and lyrical subject in Oh Jung-hwan's poetry show poetic cognition and preoccupation of awareness. This is the poetic reality, which is a reality obtained when historical and subjective self-awareness collide.
