Whereas a microscope was a favor with 1900‘s Koreans, the most impressive scientific achievement was X-ray in 1910’s. X-ray, which was known by Ronthgen in 1896 and introduced in 1900's Korea already, gained the renewed interests in 1910's. Some writers including Yi, Gwang-soo experimented the metaphor of X-ray to express the spirit of new age. Microscope of 1900's had focused the visible of the world. All the Existences were displayed in detail under microscope eye, and the final visible was declared the core of the world. Microbial existences were attacked as the hidden cause of diseases, then the only therapy could be achieved only by the government on the micro visible. The bodies of people as national subjects should be subjected to the micro-power. The imagination of X-ray, on contrary, focused the invisible of the human existences. The nation retreated to the realm of the invisible with the occurrence of annexation, and the human colleagues, who once was the part of nation as enlarged 'I', attained the opaque thickness which asked the penetration. Humans began to be imagined the complex existences which hided the true values inside, and the true values were named the souls. The formation of literature as the paradoxical structure of the expression of the invisible became possible under this retreat of the world to the invisible.
