The purpose of this study is to examine about Jangot in tthe literature. Jangot is 長衣 in the chinese character. The record of Jangot first appeared in Sejo. We can see records about Jangot in Sejo, Seungjong, Jungjong, Seonjo, Gwonghaegun, Youngjo, Jeongjo, Sunjo (Kings' name) of Joseonwangjosilklok (History book of Lee Dynasty) and we can also see them in Chunhyangjeon (Korean old novel) and Joseonyeosokgo (customary book).
Important fact which was found in the records that Jangot had green and dark blue color, espacially various color used for shrouds. Also Jangot is populor
for woman and it was not difference woman between man in Sejo, is woman's headdress for going out for common people in Jeongjo. In Jejoo Jangot was not only wedding dress but also a shroud as best dress. In genre painting, they threw on Jangot on the shoulders, on the head or hold it on the head. From now on, form change, wearing style and sewing method for Jangot shoud be studied.
