Bok-yo refers to inauspicious to the country as the costume is treacherous. Throughout the entire Joseon period, there were various types of Bok-yo among male and female costumes. Bok-yo can be said as a type of costume that is against the luxury and regulations and ruler’s governing style. The purpose of this study lies in considering the morphological characteristics of the overlapped look of excavated jangot and jeogori and systemizing the formativeness of the overlapped look of jangot and jeogori that are presented as relic material and improving its value. As research methodology, we combined literature review and reproduction. Accordingly, the following conclusions could be drawn. First, Janggi Jeong Clan’s costume has a silhouette with vertical and curved lines combined in harmony as vertical jangot and curved jeogori (with side vent) are overlapped. Second, the layered look of jeogori and jangot whose lining is cotton or hanji is helpful for protection against wind and keeping warmth during the cold season as it uses silk or pattern silk as outshell to improve warmth. Third, the effectiveness of color matching between the end of sleeve of jangot and the color of sleeve of jeogori by sewing a cuff on lapis lazul flower silk jeogori and brown lotus flower jangot, and the color combination of jangot and jeogori that is seen outside the side vent and its harmony with dongjeong (thin white cloth-covered paper collar) produce a calm and elegant atmosphere overall. such manufacturing techniques as backstitch, broad-stitch, blind stitch, and various top stitch are expected to be used a lot in modern costume.
