This study examines the aspect that the novel aesthetic peculiarity in the narrative structure of Taebaek Mountains (太白山脈) is grafting on the historical sense immanent in it. Taebaek Mountains of Cho Jeong-rae(趙廷來) proceeds the story of 'Beolgyo(筏橋)' in Jeollanamdo(全羅南道) in the story time from immediately after 'Yeosun Rebellion(麗順叛亂事件)' in October, 1948 to the signing of armistice agreement in September, 1953. However, the short 5-year story time constructs the whole history of Taebaek Mountain by arranging the axis of time extending to the inside-liberation and Japanese imperialism in a close time and Donghak Revolution(東學革命) at the end of Chosun Dynasty and the history of each character with different ideologies and classes in a row or overlapping them to form the folds of times and to crossing over the axis of the space time. I could to clarify that the following historical sense is inherent in the story of Taebaek Mountain by corresponding these three time axes to 'Strata', 'Crust' and 'Stratification' based on the isomorphism of geological notion.
At first, Taebaek Mountains is searching for the past history as the crystal of time and space, that is, the 'Strata' of history through the axis of the time to be extended to the inside from 'Yeosun Rebellion'. Through this, Taebaek Mountains secures its position as the prelude only and the story lights up the erased 'Yeosun Rebellion' on the line of layered history by the issue of one landlord and tenant farmer in a land, conflict of top-class leading people of pro-Japanese(親日), wealth and power. Therefore, Taebaek Mountains describes 'Yeosun Rebellion' as the case to try to escape from the conflict strata of history rather than the ideological collision simply between the right and left wings. Then, the history of full-scale escape is developed from the starting point of 'Yeosun Rebellion' and this study examined it through the time axes, which becomes the space with the major characteristics in the history composition. The branch of history focusing on various people with different ideologies and classes describes the looks to escape from the strata of history on the background of chaotic situation in the thawing season to make a new order as the former standards are dismantled within the tension relation with the history axis to drill the strata of history. Through the discussion related to this, this study could clarify that the essence of Taebaek Mountains is to explain the chaotic aspect of liberation space as the confrontation between the power to prepare new standards for renovation in relation to the general elements forming the historical strata and the power to stay the conflicting historical strata rather than to describe the direct showdown of ideology of right and left wings. Also, in explaining this both powers on the historical structure, I could clarify that they had the confidence in the Power of People as the group to gush out the power of renovation in teality.
Finally, this study reviews the aspect to form the land again as the strata of new history in the historical branch of Taebaek Mountains with the hand-to-hand fight between the stream of power to escape from the historical strata. the stream of power to stay in the strata and the Spontaneous Desire for Revolution. Through this, I could find that the historical sense of Becoming, which is not restored into the existing strata of history, is inherent in the narration of Taebaek Mountains. Especially, I could read the intention to overcome the partition, which T aebtuk Mountains proposed as the prospect in the future by examining two peaceful meetings and another one encounter-encounter of Yeom Sang-ku and Yeom Sang-jin, which is allowed on the branched road for life or death, granted in the course of developed narration in parallel line of both powers of left and right wings. I could finish this study with finding the continuous flowing of People's Power, which will not be discontinued, by putting in order the family history of Ha Dae-chi representing the People's Power.
