Since the name of WonjuJibangdae, which was established in 1897, was changed into WonjuJinwidae in 1900, it existed till the discharge of the military in 1907. The number of soldiers in WonjuJinwidae was peak in 1900, which was 1,029. Although it had a fewer number of soldiers than the past troops in Gangwon-do in the early 19th century, the quality of soldiers was much higher. In case of officers, they had better treatment than those in late Chosun and general soldiers received a salary of three won, which was the same as a postman. When looking into their expenditures, salary, clothing and food expenses occupied the largest share and drm fees was very Jow when compared to them. It implied the difficulties in enforcement of the fighting power. Major financial sources were Gongjeon (公錢) and Dojeon (賭錢) of Yeokto (驛土). The people in Wonju where patriotic activities and rebels were active had financial difficulties because they should pay Gongjeon and Dojeon of Yeokto dubiously. WonjuJinwidae had eminent functions related to the defeat of the Eolsa loyal army (乙巳義兵). Although Daehan Imperial Kingdom lost the power because of the Eulsa Treaty, military of Daehan Imperial Kingdom defeated the civil military's patriotic activities. However, after discharge of the military in 1907, WonjuJinwidae participated in the patriotic movement actively. They improved the civil military movement not only by improving the battle capabilities of the civil military but also by resolving the discrepancies between civil military and national soldiers.
