According to Gwangmuyangan of Jincheon in the late Chosun Dynasty, there was a total of 81.078 gyeol of Yeoktos at eight myeons in Jincheon-gun. This was 2.2% of the entire cultivated land in Jincheon. However, the area of Yeokto recorded in Gwangmuyangan was quite small because Jangyang Station and Taerang Station were halfway the road. This might be partly related to powerful local families' exclusive ownership of lands and Yeokmin's land trade but it is assumed that Yeokto might be excluded from Yangan when horses were not properly prepared in the station or the Yeokto was inarable. Since the station system was abolished in 1895, disputes over the tenant right of Yeokto and farm rent boycott campaign caused by the rise of land rent had happened, and Dojeon of Yeokto was spent in payment to postmen and financing local squads. In addition, Yeokto related to Gomacheong shows the characteristics of the late Chosun Dynasty when Goripje developed. The tavern of Jangyang Station located in Yeokto emerged with the eclination of Won, which was a lodging facility operated by the government, showing the development of goods trading economy in the late Chosun Dynasty.
Land operation by Yeokto farmers was made in various types. First, around 34.6% of 402 Yeokto farmers cultivated only Yeokto and the land size was mostly less than 50 bu, which suggests that they lived in destitution. Second, around 48.8% of Yeokto farmers possessed their own lands. Out of them, around 5.5% were rich farmers owning over 1 gyeol and 75 farmers rented their lands to tenants. Those who cultivated more than 50 bu occupied around 36.8% of Yeokto farmers, and those who cultivated less than 50 bu occupied 63.2%. Even if income from lands rented to others are counted, more than half of Yeokto farmers in Jincheon-gun in the late Chosun Dynasty lived in destitute. On the other hand, the top ten families cultivating a large size of Yeokto were Kim, Lee, Shin, Park, Yoon, Jeong, Choi, Hong, Han and Jo.
