The purpose of this study is to specifically reveal the phenomenon of forming a community of teachers in the same grade based on the temporality of John Dewey’s “an Experience”, targeting the experiences of elementary school teachers. Through in-depth interviews with teacher S, the study describes the experience of forming a community of same grade teachers and qualitatively analyzes this experience based on the temporality characteristic of "an Experience" as discussed in Dewey's 「Art as Experience」. The findings suggest that the experience of teacher S in forming a same-grade teacher community can indeed be considered "an Experience". Based on this, three characteristics of the experience of forming a community of same grade teachers were identified. First, it is formed by developing a curriculum together and providing joint life guidance. Second, it is subject to change depending on various contexts surrounding the teacher. Third, it involves building mutual trust within the teacher group and then spreads as a positive influence. These results suggest that the same-grade teacher community can serve as a significant means for teachers to overcome challenges and actively and positively transform school culture.
