This study aims to examine the aspects of linguistic identity that influence the Korean language learning of a 4th generation Koryo-saram female university student residing in Gwangju, South Korea, using performative narrative inquiry. In particular, this study considers not only 'ethnicity' but also gender as one of the major factors constructing linguistic identity. Through this, the study seeks to investigate how 'ethnicity' as a Koryo-saram and 'gender' as a woman influence the construction and formation of linguistic identity in academic and social contexts related to language learning, and ultimately, what trajectory of language learning they draw. The study employed performative narrative inquiry to analyze the learner's learning experiences on personal, social, and educational dimensions based on the narrative of 'Alina,' who attends a university in Gwangju. By doing so, this study aimed to examine the multifaceted aspects of complex linguistic identity construction while focusing on a single participant.
