This study aims to explore Korean’s culture gene Inherented in Goryo Saram through life history of them living in Central Asia. By using life history research methods, materials were collected from 80-year-old female Goryo Saram Y residing in Kazakhstan. Especially, the interview was conducted by focusing five research aspects(value and vision, correspondence toward life, relationships, physical cultural space, chronicle order), and then these were matched with Korean’s culture gene.
As a result, this study figured out that research participant Y still inherent Korean’s culture gene which was consistently presented through her life in spite of social environment changes. Even though non-genetic cultural elements change or eliminate according to surroundings, Korean’s culture gene, so-called ethnicity, is not mostly transformed. In spite of her great age, she was proud of being Korean, and had lived up to her beliefs.
