This article focuses on “Danchootei Nichijo” written by Kafu Nagai, and discusses how Kafu portrayed Tokyo after the earthquake disaster.
First, Kafu wanders around the busy areas of Shinjuku and Asakusa shortly after the earthquake and scrutinizes them.Shinjuku is a new city, and Asakusa was once deserted in the prime of the Edo period, but it was redeveloped after the earthquake.
Second, Kafu also said on October 3, immediately after the great earthquake, “The end of a national family that only modifies its appearance and makes a plan for 100 years is like this. “ From “Danchotei Nichijo,” you can see places where you can feel as if you are describing the state of reconstruction on canvas based on those words. Thus, the significance of a haze walk is to revive the memories of the city that have been forgotten behind the reconstructed cityscape.
