Esports has been recognized as an official sport at the Asian Games, and with the success of the IOC"s upcoming Esports Olympics in Singapore in June 2023, the IOC has established an E-sports Commission. Currently, e-sports research and education are active around the world, and the industry is growing. However, the popularity of E-sports competitions varies depending on the genre, type, and region of the game. This paper analyzes the types and characteristics of E-sports competitions that have emerged as major global competitions and suggests the factors and characteristics that E-sports competitions should have in order to grow, which will help the development of E-sports competitions in the future.
