The purpose of the study is to explore the effect of eating out on obesity. There are various lifestyles and living arrangements, so these days many people tend to have eating out easily and experience a weight fluctuation. A multiple linear regression analysis was performed, using Stata 14, on the demographic characteristics, body mass indices (BMIs), and frequency of eating out of 7,611 people who responded to the 2012 Korea national health and nutrition examination survey. The analysis indicates that gender, age, educational background, and frequency of eating meals out are the only statistically significant factors of obesity (p<0.05). As for frequency of eating out, individuals who eat out more than 2 times per day have the highest BMIs (0.822), compared to those who don’t at all. A dietary educational program should be provided by school in the student or by the organization in which the employee lives alone. Yet, these findings have limited application since the data on body sizes and diets for the national survey were self-reported by the respondents and there is a possibility of false reports.
