As one of the most valuable intangible assets, the brand plays a vital role in economic activities. The banking industry is also increasingly impacted by the brand economy. In the digital era, brands have contributed significant benefits to banks from multidimensional aspects, such as the impacts on market competition and links to superior financial performance. However, most of the previous studies are customer-oriented, which developed on the questionnaire results collecting from customers, suffering regional bias from sampled population. Although several studies have explored the relationship between bank brand and parts of the bank’s financial performances, none of them can provide a systematic and integrated consideration. To address the problems above, this research aims to develop a bank-oriented study to systematically investigate the impact of bank brand values from macro, meso, and micro levels with multi variables regressions analysis. Empirical results showed that micro-level variables have a major impact on brand valuation, which indicates that a bank’s own financial performance has a significant impact on its brand value positively. In addition, it is found that lower explanatory power is assessed from meso level to brand value, which may result from the stableness and industrial non-sensitiveness of the sampled top banks. A slightly negative value is assessed from macro-level variables, which suggest when macroeconomy fluctuates and monetary supply decreases, the value of bank brand shows stability to buffer the change. This result coincides with the reality, that when the economic climate turns negative, the banking business suffers less compare with businesses from other industries due to its special fundamental positions in the financial system. A comparison between top banks in Korea and China are also provided, the similarities and differences of both categories are discussed.
