This is a research designed to examine whether training speech with the script prepared in advance can reduce the number of filler words in speech. It set the two research questions: (1) Is the method of writing the script in advance for presentation and exercise presentation with the script effective in correcting the habit of using filler words in actual presentation?, (2) Is the method of writing the script in advance for presentation also effective in reducing filler words in the 'free talking' situation where the script is not available? This study suggested the way of using script as a way of suppressing the use of them, and got meaningful results from the experiment. In conclusion, this study proved that preparation for presentation with script was effective in reducing filler words and filled pauses in actual presentation, and, beyond that, reducing them in the extemporaneous free talking situation.
