The current study samples 47 university students, ranging in age from 19 to 26, who joined a presentation class covering six topics over a period of fifteen weeks. The class included a series of presentations and script writing activities that were inspired by practical presentation strategies, such as opinion taking, effective openers and closers, previewing and reviewing, etc. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of presentation strategies in enhancing critical thinking skills. These skills were evaluated on a seven point scale according to the Free Critical Thinking Test (CTT, available online) provided by AssessmentDay. Results indicated that students who joined the presentation class scored significantly higher in critical thinking skills at the end of the semester. In addition, the results demonstrated that critical thinking, comprehension, taking divergent views and speaking competence can be enhanced through an English presentation class, such as the one designed for this study.
