This study conducted a survey of a total of 230 hair salon users in Daejeon, Chungnam, and Sejong and analyzed the results of it in order to find out the effect of changes in perception according to COVID-19 on the perception of hygiene of customers going to hair salons, and the result is the following. First, due to people's risk perception about COVID-19, hygiene to prevent COVID-19 infection has settled in society. Also, awareness of contagious diseases that may occur in hair salons has increased, and in particular, people's interest in respiratory infections has been recorded high. Second, since fears of COVID-19 infection have expanded individual's concept of hygiene from individuals to public places, it was found that more thorough hygiene standards are needed because there are many situations of close contact in hair salons, which are a type of multi-use facilities. Third, it was studied that customers, who feel greater psychological pressure such as stress and depression due to COVID-19, they require stricter hygiene standards as well as washing hands and wearing masks in hair salons. As the result, the need to change customers' perception in using hair salons safely has been raised. And in order to reduce users' concerns about COVID-19 infection and present social stability, it is considered that thorough quarantine, and nationally institutionalized rules and norms are needed, and the media and the press should provide correct information. Follow-up studies are needed to prepare for contagious diseases in various fields of the beauty service industry in the future, and considering that COVID-19 is still going around, periodical studies are required when the pandemic is over.
