This paper examines the expression method and character of Chinese academic painting in connection with changes in the times. The academic painting, which was confirmed to have appeared for the first time in the period of the North and South Korean War through records, was developed by period with Taoist symbolism, Confucian symbolism, and Buddhist symbolism. In the early days, it was often drawn as a bird symbolizing utopia, which is connected to Gonryunsan Mountain, a Taoist utopia, but as the times changed, the tendency to be treated as a bird symbolizing hermit, intellectual, and bureaucracy increased. As the characteristics of birds that live long in the Qing Dynasty were highlighted, it was actively dealt with in the harmony of livestock, resulting in further spread. This is interesting because it is also associated with changes in Chinese painting and painting. This aspect is difficult to grasp through analysis of other animals, which disproves that crane paintings were important and attracting attention in Chinese painting.
