In this paper, the characteristics of classical women"s literature in China and Korea were examined by comparing and analyzing the works of female poets in the 18th century from various feminist perspectives. Through the works, we find what social reality women in the two countries were in, what aspects of life they have shown, what the mechanisms are that bind them, and what efforts they have made as independent women in the patriarchal social order. Although there were differences in the areas where Kim Ho Yeon Jae, Kim Samuidang, Xi Peilan, Xionglian and Sun Yunfeng grew up, they were all poets in the 18th century and were immersed in traditional confucian ideas, so they had similarities in consciousness and values.
In addition, this paper analyzed natural images used by these poets such as the sea, moon, flower, fall, tree, well, dew, spring, etc., seongye symbolizing the fantasy world, windows suggesting a delicate inner landscape of women, and colorful images. In this process, we intend to derive the progressive feminist trend revealed in women"s works of both countries. By presenting the feminist trend of Korean and Chinese women"s works, the literary characteristics of Korean and Chinese women in the 18th century are found in nature and literature.
Through feminist reinterpretation of Korean and Chinese classical poetry, we see efforts to approach classical women"s identity, women"s physical experiences, personal thoughts, strong sense of practice and their prominent challenge spirits. Therefore, we discover the meaning and value of women"s literature and reveal the feminist wisdom presented to modern women.
