This study examined who produced Youtube video clips about disabled people and how different media representation was by the type of producers. The video clips that ranked top 200 in number of views were analyzed through a content analysis. As a result, YouTube-dedicated channels produced 42.5% of the total video clips; the existing mass media including broadcasters and newspapers produced 33.5%; YouTubers with disabilities produced 14.5%; and public institutions produced 9%. There were significant differences in media representation of disabled people by the type of producers. The broadcasters and newspapers on YouTube represented the disabled as victims while highlighting the adverse of disabled people through real episodes. YouTube-dedicated channels produced reaction videos that demonstrated the non-disabled’s reaction toward the disabled and portrayed disabled people as dependents. YouTubers with disabilities mainly presented their identity equal to other peoples through their daily lives and challenging experiences. The public institutions produced videos with the purpose of improving public awareness of disabled people. This study confirmed that the representation of the disabled on YouTube video clips included instrumentalization, stereotyping, and othering, while disabled people could present their identity and daily lives with autonomy on YouTube.
