Shopping is being an entertainment to people nowaday and shopping malls have been larger and more complex after 2000 in Korea. As recently UEC (Urban Entertainment Center) is considered as playing a role of urban revitalization in city redevelopment, it is common to analyze UEC as a part of city for its large scale and public characteristics. Many precedent studies on shopping malls examined its circulation system using five elements (path, district, area, node, landmark) that Kevin Lynch mentioned as composition element of cities in his book, "Image of city". Especially the node is regarded as an important element in shopping mall's circulation among five elements because of its role that is an intermediate space. But because shopping malls are facilities to sell goods and to get more profit after all, an analysis of shopping mall also need to be considered as commercial aspect. First this study took a look at characters of the node in circulation based on precedent studies and references and also drew its properties from the commercial aspect. Then through these it analyzed roles of the node in UEC which is located and built in Seoul in 2000's. Commercial properties of the node can be classified attraction of people, exposure of shops and brands and duration of visit within a shopping mall. An analysis of UECs showed that most UECs have three nodes and while among them one node is activated in commercial aspect in linear circulation type, two nodes are activated in UEC of circular type. Also it showed that elements to extend duration of visit is insufficient in most nodes.
