This study investigated the recent trend of the global medical tourism industry in Asian countries as new medical health service providers emerged (e.g, Singapore, India, Malaysia, South Korea, etc.) and developed critical success factors. The results are as follows. First, the main destinations of the global medical tourism were verified as Asia, Europe, North America, Central and South America. Particularly, the rapid progress of Asian countries has attracted and received attention in global markets. Second, economically developed countries in Asia each have distinguishing features and clear development goals in medical tourism. Specifically, Singapore and India aim to become centers for advanced medical service providers in South East Asia and South Asia respectively, and Thailand is aiming to become the SPA capital of Asia. In addition, Malaysia and South Korea have also gained high global reputation in the cosmetic, beauty and medical health examination services sectors. Third, the main factors for rapid development of medical health services in Asian countries are language accessibility, customized services, high level of medical technology, and lowered medical costs compare to developed countries. In addition, enterprises conducting promotions in conjunction with governments contribute to improving global reputations as medical hotspot.
