This study aimed to explore what mentor-teachers and mentee-teachers experienced during the mentoring process in elementary school settings. For this purpose, a total of 10 teachers including 5 experienced and 5 beginning teachers who were in the mentoring program were interviewed and analyzed using Ground Theory. The result of this study was as follows. The mentor teachers experienced the steps of ‘burden and worry’, ‘listening’, ‘sharing’, and ‘reflecting’during the process. Depending on their attitudes toward the mentoring, the mentors were characterized as ‘minimum attempter’, ‘active helper’, and ‘sharing extension.’ On the other hand, the mantee teachers experienced the steps of ‘opening mind’, ‘accepting’, ‘attempting’, and ‘improving’during the process. Depending on their attitude toward the mentoring, the mentees were characterized as ‘active and sharing participation’, ‘passive and positive participation’, and ‘passive and negative participation.’ This study is meaningful because this study provides implications for the support of beginning teachers, experienced teachers, at the same time, provides knowledge and information about the mentoring situation in school settings by discussing mentor-mentees’ mentoring experiences in elementary schools.
