This article analyzes forming and characteristics of Japanese resident groups in Gimcheon and explores correlation between characteristics of Japanese resident groups and itself, and rule of Japanese imperialism. Japanese resident groups in Gimchoen, along with constructing of Seoul-Pusan railroad line, is made Gimcheon as the symbol of Japanese and the place having their identity. In this process, Gimcheon is being changed from a traditional farming area to a modern city by Japanese resident groups. Japanese resident groups tries to be interested parties in political operating of Gimcheon based on relative autonomy, not the uniform ruling of colonial authority. This kind of aspect, rather than, gives shape Japanese colonial urbanization in Gimcheon. During that, Japanese resident groups in Gimcheon are divided up for regional interest. City development of colonial authority and Japanese resident groups also is progressed in discrimination for Korean society. Gimchoen according to that, has scenery of dual city. Gimcheon-myon under rule of Japanese imperialism, is a traditional city grown to modern colonial one based on major industry, the commerce, through railroad lines, Seoul-Pusan railroad line, Kyungpook railroad line and so on.
