This study traces the developments of four different interpretations of the phrase, ‘within the veil’ (Heb. 6:19, 20) within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and explores their theological implications. The four different interpretations can be condensed as follows: (1) ‘into the Holy Place,’ (2) ‘into the Most Holy Place,’ (3) ‘into the whole heavenly sanctuary,’ and (4) ‘into the presence of God.’ This study is designed to help understand the long-standing debate over the interpretation of the phase ‘within the veil’ and its implications. This study will also help understand the reality of the heavenly sanctuary and the intercessory ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. The co-existence of the various interpretations of the phrase ‘within the veil’ calls for a thorough linguistic, typological, biblical, and theological study.
