Sulforaphane (SFN) is a strong antioxidant phytochemical and well known for the anticarcinogenic activity. However, our previous study showed that SFN promoted proliferation of HCT116 colorectal carcinoma cells in a nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)-dependent manner and SFN-induced proliferating cells highly expressed glutamate- cysteine ligase (GCL), the rate-limiting enzyme for glutathione (GSH) synthesis.
