Quercetin (QUE) is an antioxidant and bioactive phytochemical. Recently, it has been reported that QUE can inhibit glutathione reductase responsible for replenishing reduced form of glutathione (GSH) and thus lead to GSH depletion known to trigger cell death in certain contexts. In this study, we examined if QUE would decrease the GSH level in oxaliplatin (OXA)-treated HCT116 human colorectal cancer cells, thereby facilitating apoptotic cell death.
