The use of social network service or SNS brought about neologisms formation to define the things involved in the use of such service. In each language, neologisms might be appeared in several forms regarding the use of social media of people in that culture. Semantic transparency of neologisms can be seen as a property of surface structures enabling people to carry out their semantic interpretation with the least possible machinery and with the least possible requirements regarding language learning. Therefore, the transparency of Thai and Korean neologisms related to the use of social network service are discussed in this study, based on patterns of word formation which are phonological, morphological and semantic derivation. The transparency is categorized into opaqueness, translucency and transparency according to how the words are formed. The results of the study found that most of the neologisms in both languages were transparent especially for application element category which are created by transliteration. In addition, many opaqueness and translucency were found in both languages with the figure of abbreviations, combinations or idiomatic derivation which effected by the lack of their anonymity and structure’s complexity. In addition, Neologisms with significantly different levels of transparency were also found in the two languages.
